Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari is confident that with the support of the entire African continent, the Black Stars can go on to overwhelm Uruguay in their quarterfinal clash on Friday and make it to the semi finals of the 2010 World Cup for the first time in history.
Ghana’s best performance in the tournament was four years ago when they were eliminated in the second round, but their last 16 win over USA ensured that the Black Stars now face a historic tie against the South Americans, who beat South Korea in the previous round.
Despite having had his own disciplinary problems at the tournament in South Africa so far, the Inter Milan star sent out a rallying cry to the whole of Africa to be behind the sole representative left in the 2010 World Cup from the continent.
“We are very pleased that we were able to defeat the United States,” Muntari said. “It was a jubilant moment, and we want to continue on this path.
“We want to write our names in the history books. Our objective is to make the semi-finals.
“We have the support of the entire African continent, and it is a magnificent feeling. We want to do well for all the people who are following and supporting us.”
