Premier League Live

The Barclays English Premier League is undisputedly the most popular football league in the world. Live Premier League football is beamed all over the world ever since it begun decades ago and the galaxy of world soccer stars like Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres continue to attract fans of all countries as much as their predecessors like Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona and David Ginola did.

The English Premier League title has been synonymous with only a handful of clubs though as the biggest teams have generally dominated the race for honours. While Blackburn Rovers won the first ever Premier League title in 1994/95, the following years until now have featured the trio of clubs Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea. By far the most successful club has been the Red Devils, who have won 11 titles to now equal the 18 league championships that Liverpool claimed before the advent of the EPL, while Arsenal and Chelsea have three each.

Live Premier League football will provide exciting teams involved throughout their season including the ever popular Liverpool, ambitious Tottenham Hotspur and even Newcastle United, who have just returned to the top flight after spending a season in the Championship following their relegation two seasons ago. Watching live Premier League games on your own pc has also become much easier and beneficial and we offer every football fan the chance to following their favourite teams in action every week with in-depth and full access to extensive coverage of all Premiership games.

Season 2010/11

Much of the focus this season will be on the returning World Cup stars and how they fare with their respective teams. Manchester United have already laid the marker by beating champions Chelsea in the Community Shield but the lack of form of star striker Wayne Rooney will dominate their season. Chelsea will hope to rediscover their freescoring ways of last season under Carlo Ancelotti and retaining the title as well as winning the Champions League will be on their minds.

Manchester United will be looking to seal their 12th Premier League title, thereby making them the undisputed top club in English football. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has invested shrewdly in young talents like Chris Smalling, Javier Hernandez and Bebe in the hope to continue the club’s football dynasty.

Cash rich Manchester City will likely be a force to be reckoned with after spending heavily in the summer to invest in new players while Liverpool will be hoping to rediscover their place in English football under new manager Roy Hodgson who replaced the sacked Rafael Benitez. Arsenal should remain at the forefront of the title challenge as Arsene Wenger continues to nurture his young and exciting side while Tottenham Hotspur could be a dark horse after last season’s heroics.

The trio of newly promoted clubs – Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Blackpool – will all be hoping to remain in the top flight rather than drop straight back down to the Championship. It will be interesting to see how the Magpies perform on their return under Chris Hughton who will manage in the Premier League for the first time in his career, similarly Roberto di Matteo of WBA and Blackpool’s Ian Holloway.

History Of The Premiership

The Premier League begun in 1992 when 22 former English First Divisions clubs agreed to breakaway from the FA and form their own elite division. The lure of greater commercial reward was the driving force behind the decision with the clubs getting a huge slice of the sponsorship pie and broadcast television money. Carling had been the first sponsor of the Premiership before Barclays eventually took over as it is now.

The league was then reduced to a 20-club league in 1995 and in 2007, the league decided to disassociate itself from the FA and became formerly known as the Barclays Premier League.

Premiership Structure And Privileges

Every Premier League club plays 38 games home and away each season. The Premier League champion is decided by the club ending the season with the most points with certain tiebreakers in place, if required. The top four clubs at the end of each Premier League season will enter the Champions League next season, either automatically or through a number of qualifying rounds. The fifth and sixth placed clubs will be entered into the Europa League while the League and FA Cup winners will also join these clubs in that competition.
