Hooper said: “My ambition was always to play as high up in the Premier League as I could – and play for my country. If I’d stayed at Spurs I might have still been in the reserves so I’m glad my career has taken the path it has.”
Hooper said: “It’s a good experience to get under your belt as lower-league football gets you used to the physical side first and then everything else comes into place when you move up. Those spells helped me get the move to Scunthorpe – and it has gone well from there.”
Celtic have dropped points in their last two games against Dundee United and Inverness CT but Hooper is confident the Bhoys will improve this time round if they are given a chance to play despite the weather.
He told the Celtic View: “We’ve been training indoors and had a hard session on Monday. We’ve kept our sharpness up by playing five-a-sides. The facilities are good and have kept us ticking over for the games. It’s annoying because you want to play every week but if conditions are dangerous you’d rather not play. You just have to keep on training. The gaffer has said he wants a reaction and we badly need to do that after losing a 2-0 lead against Inverness. It’s important we learn from the mistakes in the last two games and see matches out. We need to win our next home match and then I think we’ll be back to normal and can start to put together another winning run.”
