Napoli will travel to Florence to face a tough Serie A season opener against Fiorentina but strikers Edison Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi are both confident of helping the team off to a great start in an expectant season. Lavezzi has waved away fears that the departure of Fabio Quagliarella to Juventus could hurt his team and insists that his team mates will continue to score plenty of goals.

“The arrivals of Cavani and Cristiano Lucarelli have strengthened our attack,” Lavezzi said, who scored enough goals last season to guide Napoli to a sixth place finish.

“We have done well so far together and I believe we will delight the fans.”

Cavani is also raring to go having left Palermo to join the azzurri this summer.

“I can’t wait for the season to start and score as many as goals as possible for the team,” Cavani said.

Fiorentina are also hopeful of a better showing this season compared to their campaign the last time round which ended in disappointment after the Viola failed to qualify for Europe in finishing outside the top seven. The club also struggled in general and won only 13 times in the whole season.

“I think this team has what it takes to do well and I am sure we will do better than last year. This is our main objective this season,” striker Alberto Gilardino said.
