Besiktas will enter their Europa League qualifier against HJK Helsinki just three days after opening their league campaign with a win. The Black Eagles are not complaining about the tight fixture schedule which saw the European tie shifted at late notice from Thursday to Tuesday.

Besiktas boss Bernd Schuster has already waved away suggestions that his players will be feeling the heat and exhaustion playing so many games within a matter of days, together with the high temperatures that have swept Europe in recent weeks, which has already apparently affected the Black Eagles’ stadium pitch quality.

“We have a large squad, a squad ready for any eventuality,” Schuster said.

“We train pretty hard almost every single day, and so my players won’t have any difficulty.”

Schuster is thought to favour the same lineup today against HJK Helsinki that beat Buca in their season opener last Saturday. That would mean European debuts with their new club for summer signings Ricardo Quaresma and Jose Maria Gutierrez Hernandez – or Guti as he is more famously know from his Real Madrid days – as both were also involved over the weekend.

Hakan Arıkan will remain in goal after a stellar pre-season and the defensive line should remain unchanged as well with Erhan Güven, Tomas Zapotocny, Matteo Ferrari and İbrahim Üzülmez all likely to be kept in place by Schuster who will favour continuity.
