Everton could line up several of their World Cup players against Norwich City when they travel to Carrow Road for their next pre-season friendly. Toffees boss David Moyes has had many of them returning to training over the past week and must now decide if they are ready for match action.
Goalkeeper Tim Howard, Steven Pienaar, Joseph Yobo, Yakubu and Jan Mucha have all been back with the squad after their summer exertions with their national teams and Moyes is monitoring their fitness levels before making a decision prior to the game.
“I think there’s a couple of them who are a little bit further ahead. Pienaar, Yobo, Yakubu and Mucha look like they need a bit more training but Tim Cahill – I think because he had a couple of games and did a bit of training in Australia – he’s a little bit ahead of them.” Moyes said on the club’s official website.
“They aren’t really ready to play but I am not sure if I am going to consider them yet.”
The long-serving manager also confirmed that the trio of Victor Anichebe, Leon Osman and Arsenal target Phil Jagielka will all miss the game.
“We have still not got Victor or Ossie, they are not back training yet,” added Moyes.
“Phil Jagielka might miss the game as well because he has a little bit of a problem with his knee but overall we aren’t looking too bad.”
