Birmingham City will travel to Derby County for their next pre-season friendly after returning from the Far East where they enjoyed a perfect tour, winning all three of their games there.
Pride Park will be their next destination to conquer and Blues boss Alex McLeish hope to maintain a perfect record before the Premier League season kicks off in a couple of weeks’ time.
Derby County will be tough opposition after three wins and two draws in pre-season so far and also beat Premier League side Stoke City earlier this week, which would send a warning to McLeish over their capability to upset top flight opponents.
McLeish also promised fans that he would be fielding strong lineups consisting of first team players in the club’s remaining pre-season fixtures against Derby, Northampton, MK Dons and Mallorca.
“There will be a strong squad for all four first team friendlies – Derby, Northampton, MK Dons and Mallorca,” said McLeish on the club’s official website.
“Fans should not read anything into the actual team that I pick for any game. The team against Derby, for example, is not likely to be the XI that I start the season with.
“I’ve said before how important it is to have a strong squad and we need to give all the lads vital playing time on the pitch over the next week.
“I’ll mix things up a bit. I have good options for each position and everyone will get a chance to stake their claim.”
