Barcelona Star Xavi: Cesc Fabregas Will Join Us In January Because Arsenal Cannot Win Anything

By Ann on Monday, 9th August 2010

Barcelona star Xavi has decided to continue the public chase of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas by attacking the Gunners for being not good enough for his compatriot because they are “not competitive” and predicted that the Premier League club will be out of the title race before January. The midfielder also claimed that the Gunners are wrong to force Fabregas to stay against his will.

Despite the La Liga champions announcing that they will respect Arsenal’s wishes and end their pursuit of the Spanish international, Xavi has refused to accept the result.

Now the World Cup final winning goalscorer has insisted that he is confident that his international team mate will make the move to Barcelona during the winter transfer window in January as the Gunners will fail to factor in the hunt for any major honours by then.

“We’ve given up on the idea of him arriving now, but maybe he’ll come in January when Arsenal are out of the Premier League title race,” Xavi said to Tuttomercato.

“Their team are just not competitive.”

Xavi also insisted that Fabregas was unhappy in north London – made more so by the fact that the Gunners are keeping him against his will, according to the midfielder. The Barca playmaker chided the Gunners for doing a “wrong” thing and gave the impression that Fabregas is privately unhappy at having to spend more time at the Premier League club.

“Arsenal are wrong to have forced him to remain there, they can’t just hold him against his will,” Xavi added.

Many of the Barca players have already made their feelings known this summer about what they thought has been the “classless” and “wrong” manner in which the Gunners have been treating their Spanish team mate. The Catalan club’s captain Carles Puyol had previously lambasted the Premier League giants for “lacking class” and being “stupid”.

Interesting comments coming from the champions of the least competitive league in Europe.

God I hate these Barca clods. Cesc is under contract, and he’s certainly not underpaid, so for these guys to insinuate that he is an Arsenal slave is both disingenuous and idiotic. As for Xavi, is he willing to give up his spot so Cesc will actually get playing time. Don’t think so. If they really want him so badly, just pay $75 mil and be done with it. Otherwise, stfu…
