AC Milan are reportedly considering the sale of Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato to Manchester City to free up funds for bids for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and Palermo star Javier Pastore.
According to Milannews.it, Milan are hoping to flog their Brazilian star to City whom they hope will have the bottomless cash pools that would enable them to cough up €65 million (£55.8 million) for Pato. The Eastlands club are apparently keen on signing the talented striker as they continue to beef up their squad with high quality talent in every position.
Pato was previously linked with moves to Real Madrid and Chelsea, with the latter now managed by Carlo Ancelotti under whom the Brazilian used to play under when the Italian was still Milan boss.
The Rossoneri would then use the €65 million provided by Pato’s sale to fund audacious bids for Gerrard and Pastore.
However, Milan have consistently maintained that they will not sell Pato at any price, while Gerrard is unlikely to leave Anfield after establishing himself as an icon at the club of which he is also a boyhood fan. The current Anfield ownership crisis and previous offers from the likes of Chelsea have also failed to push the midfielder away from Merseyside.
While Pastore could likely leave Palermo with the Serie A club admitting that it would be difficult for them to retain the Argentinian star for much longer, the forward has consistently insisted that he has no wish to leave the club despite previous offers from Real Madrid.
