Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly contemplating a winter transfer window move for Hoffenheim striker Peniel Mlapa.
The Spurs manager is said to be keen to inject more pace into his forward line while previously deciding to retain the service of Irish star Robbie Keane, who stayed on at the club despite being heavily linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer.
But after an opening 2-2 draw in the Champions League with Werder Bremen, Redknapp is said to want to bring fresh blood into the squad and would consider Mlapa to be an ideal addition to his options upfront, especially with Jermain Defoe his only striker at the moment with pace to trouble defences, with any injury – like the current one that will keep him out for a few weeks – likely to cause considerable headache for the former Portsmouth boss.
Mlapa is a Togolese striker who has already been compared to his countryman as the “new Emmanuel Adebayor” due to his height and goalscoring ability, although it is not known if the youngster has a similar temperament and attitude to the former Arsenal and current Manchester City forward. The 19-year-old could be available for as little as £5 million which would be another attractive point for both Redknapp and Spurs owner Daniel Levy.
