MK Dons will welcome Southampton for their next npower League One clash on Wednesday at the stadium:mk which will also see the debut of Saints new boss Nigel Adkins, who joined the club earlier this week. Milton Keynes Dons skipper Dean Lewington will also make a comeback for his side in what will be a boost for Dons boss Karl Robinson.
Without Lewington captaining the side due to the player serving a one match suspension, Dons crashed to a 2-0 defeat at Brighton and the defender’s presence will also be accompanied by that of striker Aaron Wilbraham who returns from a back injury on the bench.
Summer signing Gary Mackenzie is still waiting for his debut as he recovers from an injury sustained in the summer but may be back in the squad for the weekend. Luke Howell could recover from a dead leg but Jude Stirling rests his groin injury and Stephen Gleeson is still absent as he recovers from a muscle injury.
Adkins goes straight into the job after joining the club on a double your money contract and will have to do without the pair of Lee Barnard and Adam Lallana for his first game in charge.
Striker Barnard is still serving his three match ban while midfielder Lallana has to undergo surgery on his knee, ruling him out for six weeks or more until the end of October at the earliest. New signing Frazer Richardson is not yet fit enough to make his debut after dislocating his shoulder but should be ready by next month.
Fellow injury victims Dan Seaborne (foot) and Lee Holmes (groin) remain doubtful. Adkins will be hoping to inspire a change in fortunes, with Saints having lost all three games since former boss Alan Pardew was sacked last month.
