Top of the table Sheffield Wednesday will travel to struggling Brentford for the npower League One clash at Griffin Park with three points – and a quick return to the league summit – at stake. “I have certainly got a lot to think about as far as picking the team for Brentford is concerned but I work with the rest of the staff to come up with the team that we think is going to be best for each game and I will carry on with that process.” Irvine told the club’s official website.

“There will be some disappointed players this weekend who have given themselves a good chance because of the level of the performances both last weekend and in midweek.”

Irvine has warned against underestimating bottom of the table Brentford and claimed that the opposition’s results do not reflect their true quality as a team.

“I have seen a couple of their games and they have played a lot better than the results suggest.” Irvine added.

“They have a number of good players that can cause you problems, but it is only four games in and the table won’t look anything like it does now after the next four. Brentford could be well in the top half of the league, it can change so quickly as this stage of the season.

“They are looking forward to a fantastic game coming up soon in the Carling Cup against Everton and they will be thrilled about that so their players will be trying their best to make sure they are in the team on that day. They also got through in the JPT, a game that I was at this week, so their form isn’t that bad. They are a team who are very close to getting good results.”
