Barker, who will be suspended when Derby face Scunthorpe at Pride Park on Saturday, added: “We have a chance to train hard and get things back on track against Scunthorpe. We won’t take things lightly against them. They pretty much destroyed us last season; so we know what threat they have but this season we are different team.”
Meanwhile, Scunthorpe United have decided to retain on-loan Burnley midfielder Kevin McDonald for another month after he scored a goal in the 4-2 defeat by Cardiff on a return from injury.
The youngster only made his first start for the Irons after spending most of his previous loan period injured with a back problem. McDonald then returned against Middlesbrough as a substitute. The Scot will now stay with United until Saturday, 18 December.
