Eagles midfielder Darren Ambrose is still struggling with an injury and may not be passed fit for the game against one of last season’s relegated Premier League sides.
The 26-year-old continues to be plagued by injuries this season but having started the last five games and scoring thrice, Ambrose would not be blamed for thinking that he has been hit by an unwanted jinx. His return also saw Palace revived their survival hopes despite still remaining in the bottom three on goal difference.
However, Ambrose suffered a dead leg in the 2-1 defeat at Leeds on Saturday and has been restricted in his preparations for the Tigers clash.
Ambrose said: “At Leeds there was a whack on the leg just above my right knee. I felt it seizing up but I wanted to be part of what we thought was going to be a big win and managed to get through the 90 minutes.
“Then on the Sunday it had swollen up like a balloon and the blood was draining into my knee. It has settled down a bit now. It will still be a race to be ready for Saturday but that’s what we’re aiming for.”
He added: “It has got to go down as the most frustrating season of my entire career. I’ve never had a period like it. At the moment I’m hardly training. I play on the Saturday, then it seems to take my body a whole week to recover.”
