City manager Keith Millen was pleased with the win over Leicester City last weekend but has now put forward a challenge to his players to build on that result with another three points over the Blades, something they have not achieved all season.
The win last week lifted City clear of the relegation zone and that could help to lift a certain amount of weight off the shoulders of the players, which they could then transfer more of to the Blades.
“It’s a nice feeling to be out of the relegation situation,” admitted Millen.
“More importantly, beating Leicester has given us a chance to attain that Holy Grail of back-to-back wins. That is a massive thing in this league, if you can achieve it.
“The fixture list has given us another home game next Saturday and an opportunity to get another three points. If we can do that, then we will bring a lot of teams back to us.
“It’s all about targets. We hauled ourselves off the bottom of the table and then we got out of the bottom three. Now we have to set our sights on catching the next group of teams that are just above us.”
City are within three points of seven teams and victory over Sheffield United could significantly improve their standing in the table.
By his own admission, Millen’s decision to switch to a 4-3-3 formation in order to match-up with Leicester last Saturday backfired, and he conceded: “We definitely didn’t play like a home side in the first half.
“One of the reasons we set up as we did was because I thought we could pressurise Leicester and stop them playing.
“I felt that, if we could get close to them and win the ball off them, our legs and energy would cause them problems on the break. But it didn’t pan out like that in the first half.”
City staged a spirited recovery to win 2-0 after changing tactics and Millen added: “The lads showed great character to come back in the second half and go on to win the game. The pressure was on at half time and the fans were not happy. The players were not happy and neither was I.
“But they responded in a good way and that should give them a lot of confidence going into the next game.”
