Steele expects Barnsley to finally beat the Blades this time after a run of four games unbeaten.
“I love playing Sheffield United,” Steele said. “I always enjoying playing them more at their place because the atmosphere is electric. Hopefully the game’s on and we can get a big crowd to Oakwell and create a really good atmosphere of our own.
“We had a brilliant atmosphere when he had a packed house against Leeds United earlier in the season. These are the games you look forward to. Bramall Lane is usually rocking, so let’s hope it’s a similar atmosphere on Saturday.”
Steele has been in fine form, but stresses it’s a been a team effort to help the club bounce back from a miserable October which saw them pick up just four points from 15.
He says: “You always look forward to any derby match because there’s extra spice and local bragging rights at stake.
“I don’t get any extra nerves before a game like this. I think it can be a waste of energy sometimes when you have nerves, I’ll be pretty composed.
“We’ve been on a good run recently and we want to keep that going. It was a shame we couldn’t play Doncaster last Saturday, everyone was looking forward to that match.
“But there wasn’t much that could be done because of the weather. Hopefully we can play and get a good result.”
Steele is hopeful his manager can scoop the Manager of the Month award having guided the club to 10 points from a 12 in their last four league outings.
“He’s got a good chance of winning, I’m glad he’s been nominated,” he said.
“He’s working hard, like all of the players, to make this club successful. We’ve had a good run, it’s just a shame we could only get a draw against Watford in our last match.
“We hit the post a couple of times in that match, but we didn’t play as well as we had done in previous games. We’ve got a good game to look forward to on Saturday.”
