“They won’t want to go through the whole campaign without getting any points so I’m sure they will be determined to get something on the board and we have to be ready for that,” Weir said. “They were Turkish champions last season and they are right up there in the league this season and that doesn’t happen by accident. The Champions League is a different level and they don’t have a great deal of experience playing in it.
“But I’m sure they will be determined to get back next year and show that they are capable if playing in it. It’s all about us though, it’s all about what we do and we have to have a pride in ourselves and in our performance. We want to finish the Champions League campaign on a high note, we don’t want to go out on a low note.
“We have players who have experience of playing in this competition and that has been a benefit for us. I’m sure Bursaspor will be looking at it as a learning curve but they will be in the same mind-set as us, they will be trying to get the same as us from the last game.”
Manager Walter Smith will be without Sasa Papac, Maurice Edu, Kirk Broadfoot and Kyle Lafferty for the match but defender Madjid Bougherra should play after recovering from a hamstring injury that has kept him out of the team since November 13. James Beattie’s return to fitness may allow the Gers coach to hand striker Kenny Miller a rest in favour of the Englishman.
